 Notes

12.19.2009 BookLust Avempartha - I can't even say what about this book I enjoyed so much, but I was completely absorbed by it.  When I describe the plot above, it seems straightforward.  And I guess it is.  But it's told in a very compelling way.
12.09.2009 Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews Nyphron Rising- Michael J. Sullivan is not a surprise for me anymore, but an author that already established his place within the fantasy genre. "Nyphron Rising", like Sullivan's previous novels, offers an adventurous tale and a captivating story, returning to the roots and values of the classical fantasy.
12.07.2009 BookLust The Crown Conspiracy  I enjoyed the characters in this book, particularly Hadrian, Royce & the sweetest monk ever...What's refreshing about this book is that none of the characters really has the fantasy character prototypes working. The plot, too, was interesting and fast-paced.
12.04.2009 Musings of the Othar
A Fantasy & Science Fiction Newsletter
Griffin' Daughter - I think Moore has produced an excellent debut novel here.  The story is well imagined and well crafted, her imagery and style making for an easy pleasurable read...So to summarize, I think Griffin's Daughter is a welcome and excellent addition to the fantasy genre.

Nyphron Rising -The second half of the book, however, is amazing and probably constitutes Mr. Sullivan's strongest work yet...Nyphron Rising is another capable installment in a fantastic series. Fans of the Riyria Revelations will not be disappointed."
11.15.2009 I Should be Writing Nathan Lowell - Interview by Mur Lafferty on Nathan's prolific writing
11.10.2009 The Book Tree Review Bryce Anderson  - Interview on his writing, Finding Reason, and future sequels.
11.10.2009 The Book Tree Review Finding Reason  -  It is difficult to fully explain the story of the book without giving away too many details. However, if you choose to only read one book this year, this is the book you need to read.
11.04.2009 My World Avempartha - Recommendation: Yes, especially if you like some conspiracy and mystery with your fantasy.
10.17.2009 sf Site Crown Conspiracy  is a well-written and enjoyable novel. I was invested in the characters and their travails. Royce and Hadrian's friendship was particularly fun to read...Michael J. Sullivan is an appealing writer and I'll be interested to see where he goes with his writing in the future.
09.02.2009 My World Michael J. Sullivan ,Crown Conspiracy , Avempartha , Nyphron Rising- An in-depth interview about Michael's influences and commentary on publishing, marketing, and cover designs.
08.29.2009  My World

Crown Conspiracy -  I enjoyed this book very much...After reading through the whole book I have realized there is much more going on in the underlining of the book than I realized while reading. My mind just raveled at the many possibilities and questions. There are many stories left to be told here and I will be waiting to get to them.

08.08.2009  Writing in DC Michael J. Sullivan ,Crown Conspiracy ,Avempartha ,Nyphron Rising - An in-depth interview about Michael's influences and commentary on publishing, marketing, and cover designs.
07.17.2009  Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews Michael J. Sullivan, Crown Conspiracy , Avempartha , Nyphron Rising - An in-depth interview about Michael's influences and commentary on publishing, marketing, and cover designs.

Avempartha - Mr. Sullivan continues to impress. In Royce and Hadrian he has created some of the best characters the genre has seen in some time, and in Avempartha he shows that he knows what to do with them. These books should be in every bookstore and I really hope that they are someday.
07.03.2009  Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews Avempartha - "Avempartha" is the second novel in "The Riyria Revelations", but like the previous novel, "The Crown Conspiracy", can as easily be read as a standalone. Also both novels offer a delightful reading, captivating adventures and a very interesting author. I am certain that I will hear more of Michael J. Sullivan in the future.
07.02.2009  Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews Crown ConspiracyAvempartha Nyphron Rising - Among the book covers that I liked lately are those done for the novels in The Riyria Revelations series. I like the simplicity of these covers and the link with the story, "The Crown Conspiracy" and "Avempartha" feature the places found in the central attention of two lovely characters, Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater.
07.02.2009    Dave Brendon's Fantasy & Sci-fi Weblog Avempartha - All in all, Avempartha is not only a great book in its own right, delivering on Michael's promise to give us stand-alones within a bigger story-arc, but it is also a better book than The Crown Conspiracy, showcasing Michael's crowing talents as an author who is sure to become a Name in the industry. Well worth a read!
06.15.2009  Book Banter Michael J. Sullivan, Crown Conspiracy , Avempartha - This 35-minute episode includes reviews of The Crown Conspiracy, Avempartha, and an interview with Michael Sullivan on writing and influences.
06.12.2009  MilSciFi.com Marshall S. Thomas - An In-depth interview about Marshall's series, inspirations, and advice for aspiring science fiction writers.
06.03.2009  Writely So Leslie Ann Moore - This in depth review with author Leslie Ann Moore discusses the marketing and promotion she performed for her latest book release Griffin's Shadow.
05.30.2009  Tag by book on Amazon Griffin's Shadow - Griffin's Shadow is a masterfully crafted fantasy adventure which immerses readers in its characters and wonderfully created universe. Once again, Moore seamlessly weaves in issues of prejudice while advancing the story.
05.28.2009  Fantasy Debut Griffin's Shadow - I'm actually about one-quarter of the way through Griffin's Shadow by Leslie Ann Moore. It continues with the story of Jelena as she goes to meet her father, the king of the Elves. Right away she finds herself in the midst of political maneuvering. The repressed half-elves of the novel are fascinating, and there's a satisfying amount of conflict, especially from an unexpected source.
05.19.2009  Tag by book on Amazon Griffin's Daughter - Moore's debut novel earned her the 2008 Ben Franklin Award for Best First Fiction and it's easy to see why. This is a good book and the second installment is even better.
05.12.2009  King of the Nerds Crown Conspiracy -  Perhaps the best compliment I can pay the book and its author is that immediately upon arrive at work I went and grabbed its sequel, Avempartha off the new book shelf.
 05.10.2009  Speculative Fiction

Crown Conspiracy - All in all, though, this was an extremely enjoyable read from start to finish. The Crown Conspiracy reminds me why I fell in love with the fantasy genre in the first place.
05.02.2009  The Deckled Edge Avempartha - Avempartha is a worthy sequel to The Crown Conspiracy. In fact, I'd say it probably surpasses it. I definitely recommend this new series and I look forward to the third book, Nyphron Rising."
05.01.2009  Novel Spot Crown Conspiracy - The Crown Conspiracy is entertaining from beginning to end, edge of your seat moments and conspiracy to spare. The Crown Conspiracy is a must read! I'm looking forward to the next installment.
04.20.2009  Fantasy Debut Griffin's Daughter - Moore has a natural flair for language. Her work comes across as literary without being affected, and is highly readable. I would definitely be interested in reading her future works.
04.20.2009  Strange, Weird and Wonderful Michael J. Sullivan - 5 page interview in the Spring '09 edition covering Michael's writing career and insights on both Avempartha and The Crown Conspiracy
04.17.2009  The Deckled Edge Crown Conspiracy - In many ways, the novel takes all the conventional tropes of a traditional fantasy story, takes what it needs, and throws out the rest. What is left is a quick and entertaining read.
04.15.2009  Genre Reviews Crown Conspiracy - This was a light, engaging read with steady pacing and an uncomplicated plot. It can be read as a standalone, though it also sets up the bigger, over-arching plot-line that will drive the next five books.

Harriet Klausner's Review
Griffin's Shadow - The sequel to GRIFFIN'S DAUGHTER is an excellent epic fantasy, which takes a plausible terrific spin that makes the second entry fresh and brisk.
 04.02.2009  Story Institute's
Rambling Verser
Michael J. Sullivan- This half hour podcast features a quote from Abraham Lincoln, poem by Alfred Lloyd Tennyson and an in depth interview with Michael Sullivan author of The Crown Conspiracy and Avempartha.
03.29.2009  Where's my Plan Avempartha- This volume can stand on its own, as the relevant background from The Crown Conspiracy is skillfully shared with the reader without any "What has gone before" prologue.
03.28.2009  Fantasy Book Critic Avempartha- In short, "Avempartha" is highly, highly recommended and a novel that raises Michael Sullivan's The Riyria Revelations to "major league" status.
03.22.2009  American Author's Association Crown Conspiracy - The Crown Conspiracy is a most excellent historical tale full of adventure, heroes to cheer for and villains most devious.
03.19.2009  Fantasy Debut Crown Conspiracy - Michael Sullivan is a gifted storyteller. He comes up with likable characters and twisty plots.
03.17.2009  Fantasy Debut Griffin's Daughter- GRIFFIN'S DAUGHTER by Leslie Ann Moore continues to impress. Moore keeps tension on every page and the plot continues to move...GRIFFIN'S DAUGHTER is ranking right up there with any fantasy I've read recently from the major presses.
03.15.2009  Library Journal Griffin's Shadow- Her strong male and female characters and their abiding feelings of love and honor bring a sense of true heroism to their struggles against their obstacles. A solid choice for larger libraries and for readers who enjoy fantasy with an Asian overlay.
03.10.2009  Fantasy Debut Griffin's Daughter - GRIFFIN'S DAUGHTER by Leslie Ann Moore continues to impress. Moore keeps tension on every page and the plot continues to move...GRIFFIN'S DAUGHTER is ranking right up there with any fantasy I've read recently from the major presses.
03.03.2009  Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews Crown Conspiracy - Michael J. Sullivan doesn't waste time and throws the reader into action from the first pages of his novel and keeps him there until the final page is turned.
03.02.2009  Military.com - Books Griffin's Shadow - Article on the release of Griffin's Shadow and the reviews it has received from Publisher's Weekly
02.25.2009  Where's my Plan Crown Conspiracy - On the whole, it felt like watching a pretty good television series: it was entertaining, with an engaging enough plot, snappy dialog, and characters I could enjoy spending time with
02.16.2009  Fantasy Debut Crown Conspiracy - The Crown Conspiracy is right up my alley, traditional fantasy, "good" bad guys, a large dose of humor, lots of character development and plenty of surprises.
02.19.2009  You Tube Interview Leslie Ann Moore -  This in-depth interview with author Leslie Ann Moore in preparation of the Griffin's Shadow Release.
02.13.2009  The Old Bat's Belfry Michael J. Sullivan - This in-depth interview with author Michael Sullivan takes a "quirky" take on the standard interview questions and gives a fascinating look inside the mind of Michael Sullivan
02.09.2009  ReaderViews Reviews Crown Conspiracy- Michael J. Sullivan has written a book I will read over and over again and it most definitely will always reside on my favorite's shelf.
01.20.2009  Front Street Reviews Crown Conspiracy - There is so many layers to this story that to explain it in a few words is nigh impossible. The characters are well fleshed out and the descriptions about the countryside and customs fueled my imagination and I felt that I could hardly wait to read more of this adventure.
01.15.2009  Publisher's Weekly Griffin's Shadow - This satisfying sequel to 2007's Griffin's Daughter, the coming-of-mage saga of half-elf Cinderella-esque heroine Jelena Sakehera, avoids most mid-trilogy sagginess with nonstop action and sympathetic characterizations...Moore's narrative drive and suspenseful plot twists will leave readers eager for the conclusion to this intricate and appealing tale.
01.14.2009  Books by TJ Baff Crown Conspiracy - The world created by Michael J. Sullivan is intriguing and he has subtly interwoven new possibilities that may be coming in future installments of this epic tale. I am hoping that the future books will include more of the characters met along the way and I have already guessed at one of the mysteries. I can't wait to see if I was right.
01.03.2009  Dave Brendon's Fantasy & Sci-fi Weblog Crown Conspiracy - This book is a great read; you'll find that you'll breeze through it, because Michael's writing style is so easy to get into; the action, tension and even the funny bits all work well with the style he's used to great effect here
01.01.2009  Literary Magic Crown Conspiracy - A whirlwind of twists, earth-shattering surprises and deadly betrayal...Sprinkled with bits of clever humor and riddled with surprise disasters and turns of plot, The Crown Conspiracy is sure to entertain and excite all kinds of Fantasy readers.
12.10.2008  The Old Bat's Belfry Crown Conspiracy- Great characters, delightful misdirection, good world building, and just the right amount of humor. If I had to describe this book with one word, that word would be fun!
< font size = 2 face= Calibri> 12.10.2008  Cheryl's Book Nook  Crown Conspiracy - This is the first book I have read by this great new author to me. I can't wait to read what Mr. Sullivan comes out with next.

Griffin's Daughter - This is the opening tale of what looks to be a great epic fantasy...Fantasy fans who read this author's first published tale will demand Moore adventures in the Soldaran Empire and beyond.
01.07.2007   Library Journal Griffin's Daughter - Moore's first novel portrays a young woman's struggle to make her way in a world that has trouble accepting someone neither human nor elven. Suitable for larger fantasy collection.
